1998年生まれ。神奈川県逗子市出身。東京藝術大学美術研究科彫刻専攻在籍。身の回りに存在する気に留められることの少ない物に着目し、既製品の動きを利用したギミックや彫刻的アプローチを行うことによって、それらの「野性的な側面」を浮き上がらせる。動きを持たせた彫刻やインスタレーションを中心としながら、近年は映像や写真を用いるなど表現の幅を広げている。
Taiki Yokote (he/him) was born in Zushi City, Kanagawa Prefecture in 1998. He graduated with an MFA from the Department of Sculpture, Tokyo University of the Arts. Yokote focuses on mundane objects that are rarely paid attention to and brings out their “wild side” through a sculptural approach and gimmicks that use the motion of ready-made products. With a focus on sculptures and installations with motion, his practice has expanded to a range of media including video and photography.

本作で用いられるのは、東京藝術大学・彫刻棟から出た瓦礫である。過去に制作を行なってきた場所の一部だった鉄筋やコンクリートは、建物から分離された途端に廃材となる。横手は日常のなかで見落とされがちな存在や、人間以外のものに、既製品を利用した「動き」を与え、観る人とモノとが共有する時間や空間への想像をひらく。

LEDディスプレイに映し出される粒子は、アトリエや東京藝術大学の木工室といった、作品制作に身近な空間に舞うチリやホコリなどである。そこには、作家自身や身近な人の肌の一部や服の繊維、犬の毛、彫刻作品から出たチリなども含まれている。すでに目にしていても見えていない景色は、高画質カメラで撮影された映像において抽象化され、宇宙の星々といったイメージを誘う。
